Albufeira Old Town is a haven for traditional Portuguese restaurants serving some of the best fresh fish dishes (grilled sardines are a speciality here) and a wide selection of Portuguese cuisine. Alongside a host of bars and cafe's serving drinks into the early hours. If you are looking for a more lively part of town "The Strip" as it is known, is situated on the new beach side of Albufeira and is home to the nightclubs and bars. Away from the beach from the beach in Albufeira you find the Golf Resorts with superbly maintained golf courses, a selection of swimming pools, leisure facilities including gyms and Jacuzzis and of course all within a short distance of the beautiful beaches. There are over 20 beaches along the Albufeira coastline. The beach in town is the Praia do Penico but there are other fine beaches within easy reach: to the east of the town centre is Praia dos Pescadores (Fishermen's Beach) about half a kilometre away, Praia d'Oura about 3km, Praia da Falésia 10km and Balaia and Olhos d'Agua slightly nearer to town. All of these beaches can be easily reached by local bus. To the west of Albufeira are some beaches located in coves such as the jet-ski and water-skiing centre of Praia da Galé.
