Situated on the coast, this dynamic city has a pleasant climate, friendly locals and plenty of things to see and do: the cathedral of San Nicholas, the church of Sta Mria, the castle of Barvarian Sta. During the summer the beach areas of San Juan and Campello are the most popular and lively. The celebration of the bonfires of San Juan takes place on the 24 June. Other celebrations: Verbena of San Pedro (25 - 29 Jun), Moors and Christians (4-8 Dec). This is the home and the best place to enjoy the typical Valencian Paella. For arrivals by plane: airport Alicante-El Altet (ALC) 12 km.
