Abtenau is a pretty Austrian town and a popular little ski resort. The town has a small selection of restaurants, bars and shops and is located in the mountain area with stunning views from all angles. The Austrian ski resort of Abtenau has 10 ski runs (6 blue, 3 red and 1 black). The resort is at a relatively low level so snow conditions can vary bit it has 16 snow cannons. In addition to the skiing in Abtenau itself (80 km of ski runs), it is part of the Dachstein West ski region and you are able to purchase a ski pass providing you with a choice of 54 individual pistes in other resorts including Annaberg, Krippenstein and Rubbach. Salzburg airport is just one hours drive away, in good driving conditions, so you can be on the piste quickly. There are three airports within two hours drive, so ski weekends, snowboard breaks and short ski holidays to Abtenau are perfectly feasible.
