The Cape Verde Islands, white sands,
turquoise sea and constant sunshine. Cape Verde is the new Caribbean paradise and
can be found in just 5 hours flying time from the UK. Complete Holidays are pleased to offer
holiday rentals on some of the most popular Cape
Verde Islands, including Sal, Santiago, Boa Vista, Sao Vicente &
Santo Antao. Cape Verde has
some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, along with permanent
temperatures above 25 degrees, very little rainfall and an almost
permanent breeze. Our holiday villa and apartment rentals in Cape Verde
are set in some of the best locations, many with sea views and only a
short walk to the fabulous beaches Cape Verde has to offer.
Sal
Island is the most popular island and is home to most tourism as well as
the main airport. It is a relatively flat island which has become
popular due to its fantastic white sandy beaches. The main town is Santa
Maria, where there are restaurants, bars, music and nightlife. Pastel
shaded houses and shops line the streets. It is a haven for sun
lovers and beachcombers with a good selection of water sports centres,
offering, sailing, surfing, windsurfing, fishing and diving.
Boa
Vista Island offers two magnificent
long powder white sand beaches (Chaves 15km long and Santa Monica 5km
long). It is the nearest island to the African coast and has a backdrop
of high sand dunes. The main town of Sal Rei is a sleepy place that
comes alive at dusk. Boa Vista also has some excellent water sports on
offer along with jeep safaris, quad bikes and horse riding. Boa
Vista has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere and tends to be many peoples
favourite island.
Santiago
Island is the largest island and includes the capital of the republic,
Praia, which is a distinctively African town, vibrant and pulsating with
a thriving market and like Sal it has an international airport. A
stay on Santiago Island offers a more varied holiday, with a number of
excursion available taking you around the island and into the mountains.
The coast is rugged with a few sandy coves and a visit to the northern
fishing village of Tarrafal is highly recommended.
Sao
Vicente Island is a very interesting
island with a distinctly European feel, which has attracted people such
as musicians and artists mingling with the tourists that visit the
island. There are some beautiful beaches, particularly attractive to
windsurfers, with San Pedro named as one of the worlds finest for speed
windsurfing. Mindelo, the main town, is relatively lively. Sao Vicente
has a distinctive air of the Portuguese and Brazilian provinces.
Santo
Antao Island is the most beautiful island in Cape Verde, especially if
you like mountains and gorges and stunning scenery. It is just an hour
ferry from San Vicente, and no visitor can help being overwhelmed by the
beautiful scenery where the colours, shapes and vegetation as well
as the local wildlife are all so striking. It is very different from the
white sandy beach islands of Sal, Boa Vista and Maio and another island
which is really worth exploring.
