Lanzarote lies roughly 29 degrees north of the Equator, and 13 degrees west of Greenwich, just 95 km off the coast of Africa. An insight into the Island's history and culture can be gained by visiting Teguise, the original capital of the island, Haria in the fertile Valley of 1000 palms, and some of the tiny country villages where life has hardly changed this century.
