Golf in Lanzarote

Although Lanzarote has had a golf course for nearly 30 years, it has not been well known for the sport.

Costa Teguise Golf Course: The first course on the island, Costa Teguise Golf Course was opened in 1978 and provides a splendid setting at the foot of an inactive volcano. It is a championship course and offers a good standard of golf in a very pleasant environment.

There is one new golf course in the planning stages.

Puerto del Carmen Golf Course: Just outside of Puerto del Carmen on the road to Tias. This golf course will be situated just off the main road which means that it will be within easy reach of the luxury marina of Puerto Calero. As with most new courses in Spain, there will also be a development of golf property around the course. Most of these plots have already been sold off, but no doubt many will change hands before the properties are complete. This course is still in the early planning stage and maybe finished by the end of 2008. Watch this space.
