KAMALA BEACH BAY, PHUKET
Kamala Beach is one of the most
beautiful beaches in Phuket, tranquil and calm, surrounded by hills
of forests. The village has developed over the
last few years, but the beach remains unchanged. A much quieter
resort than Patong and Karong – no high-rise blocks or shopping
malls. Instead you will find beutiful villas, small guest houses,
restaurants, shops, cafes, and perfect spots to watch the sun go
down. You might even see the buffalos taking an evening stroll... Kamala
is an excellent choice for a relaxing holiday but with Patong
Beach only a 10 minute drive away, if you need a little more buzz! Kamala
nightlife tends to be low-key, but there is a small nightlife area.
Relaxing with family and friends in a small restaurant or local bar
tends to be the pace of life here. Pretty open-air restaurants,
serving freshly cooked local food - Kamala style. For lunch,
try a dish of local noodles, or a spicy Thai salad at one of the
beach restaurants. You’ll find great restaurants serving an array
of seafood and Thai dishes. Steak restaurants and
international dishes are also served. Excellent street food
stalls can be found around Kamala.
Kamala does have one big evening
attraction - Phuket Fantasea, an amazing ‘Las Vegas' style
cultural show complete with pyrotechnics, lasers and elephants. A
stunning 140-acre theme complex offering a multitude of activities.
Highlights include the festival village, the Golden Kinnaree Buffet
Restaurant (a restaurant offering a grand buffet of Thai and
international cuisines) and a breathtaking Las Vegas-style show,
which starts at 9pm, offering a great show and buffet. Everyone
must visit it! For the more active, there are many water sports
available, as well as cycling, scuba-diving, trekking, even
elephant-trekking. Kamala has a
number of dive centres where you can book day trips to outer reefs.
For golfers, then close to Kamala is the18 hole Loch Palm
Golf Club. Jeeps can be hired to explore the Island but really a
car is not necessary if you stay at Kamala Beach as
everything is within easy walking distance, but it's a great way to
discover the rest of the island.
