Los Cristianos Holiday Resort Information

Los Cristianos Rentals:  Los Cristianos Apartment Rentals  ¦  Los Cristianos Villa Rentals

Los Cristianos, formerly a fishing village, is situated at the extreme south of the Island, close to the Tenerife South airport. It has a warm sunny climate and its skies are clear nearly all the year around. These climatic characteristics have made it a famous centre for winter tourism, and its hotels and tourist services have undergone a spectacular development. The port of Los Cristianos still houses a small fishing fleet and with this wonderful harbour as its focal point, the town has managed to retain some of its original architecture and character, but it has become more important as a mooring point for a large number of yachts and sport-boats. It is possible to travel to nearby island of La Gomera by means of the ferries, which make two journeys every day.  Los Cristianos is a very popular resort in the South of Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. A quieter resort than it's next door bigger and more vibrant neighbour Playa de Las Americas.  The resort is therefore very popular with families with young children,  couples and singles, and those not wanting a dance till dawn environment.   Because the town is based on a fishing village the centre has more charm and has made it a top tourist resort. The old town centre is the place to stock up on duty-free goods and gifts, you will find plenty of shops by the port and along the sea front. The centre is surrounded by high rise apartments and hotels.  Much of the area is pedestrianised and along with the local church is the focal point of the town and an area where the locals like to sit and meet each other.

There are 2 beaches - the best and biggest beaches on the island having been improved and protected by breakwaters. Without doubt one of the most popular resorts in the Canary Islands.   The artificial beaches are gorgeous and there are plenty of excursions running from the harbour area, such as fishing trips, pleasure cruises, glass bottomed boats, diving excursions and ferries to La Gomera. For those of you seeking entertainment after a sun soaked day on the beach or round the pool then Los Cristianos should certainly have something to your liking. With a vast array of pubs, clubs, restaurants and bars the town's boisterous nightlife caters for a mature, family clientele. Los Cristianos is also ideally situated for exploring the island with its close proximity to the motorway. Also the Aqua Park and Tenerife Zoo are both in very easy reach of the town and are wonderful days out for the whole family. Los Cristianos is a resort you will never want to leave and will often return to.

Los Cristianos Beaches

Los Cristianos offers a vibrant holiday experience with its two golden sand beaches.  Playa de la Vistas beach is the largest of the Los Cristianos beaches.  The two main beaches in Los Cristianos  are Playa de las Vistas,  and Playa de Los Cristianos which is a similar sized popular beach. The man made beaches that are lined with sun beds and parasols, provide safe swimming havens and there are showers and service facilities plus bars and cafes. There is also a rocky, black-sand beach in the "Rincon" area of Los Cristianos, (between the headland near the Puerto Viejo and the cliffs of Montaña Guaza.) This beach has not many facilities but is popular with Naturists.

Celebrants, clad in the ridiculous, the daring and the unashamedly outrageous, converge on the streets and squares to the rhythms of congas, sambas, rumbas and the more traditional Spanish zarzuela - providing a good chance to take in some songs and dances indigenous to the island.
