North & South Creake are beautiful little villages only 10 minutes from the coast and offer first class holiday rentals. Sandringham is probably Norfolk's most famous country estate, and covers an area of 600 acres. Bought by Queen Victoria in 1862 for the Prince of Wales, the original house was knocked down and the present mansion was built. The house has always been a particular favourite with the Royal Family, and both George V and George VI died within its walls. The house and gardens are open to the public when the Royal Family are not in residence. Museums that were old stables and coach houses now display family possessions. These include many vehicles, from the first car owned by a British monarch, to a half scale Aston Martin. Blakeney, Stiffkey and Cley-next-the-sea are real havens for bird life, and this section of the North Norfolk coast is visited by birdwatchers from all over the world. The marshes are home to a large number of rare migrants that are attracted by the wide expanse of salt marshes and all they hold. Blakeney Point is home to the common and grey seals, and trips can be taken daily from Morston & Blakeney Quay to observe them in their natural environment. This is a fantastic experience - don't forget your camera. Cromer is very popular with holiday-makers and has been for many years. Cromer cliffs are a fabulous place to take in the views. A stroll along the promenade along to the lighthouse, or fishing off the pier for the famous Cromer crabs. During the summer months the pier’s pavilion has shows on offer, and in August a week-long carnival. Events include a firework display, a grand parade, and the Red Arrow flying display team. It is a spectacular show, one of the biggest Carnivals in the UK and is the town’s busiest time of year. Well worth a visit. The delightful town of Holt is situated in the Glaven Valley, and has a number of traditional Norfolk pubs and restaurants serving excellent fresh local food.
