THIS IS A DREAM of a cottage. It is a traditional 17th Century Lakeland dwelling retaining delightful old beams and period features located in one of our prettiest and most prestigious villages. It has been carefully restored to provide maximum comfort and authentic charm for the discerning visitor.
Superb walking country abounds on the nearby Helvellyn and High Street ranges and many ‘family’ walks can be taken direct from the door, while several famous and friendly pubs are comforting to return to. For the energetic (or those with children to entertain on inclement days) membership of the Low Wood Leisure Club provides first class pool, sauna, spa and fitness facilities five minutes’ drive away.
The cottage is a cherished second home and is regularly used by its owners. Favourable comments in the visitor’s book indicate that many of our clients are also happy to return and enjoy its special atmosphere. Parking is directly in front of the cottage and the small garden here has been paved to create a sitting area (particularly good for catching the sun on summer evenings). In addition, the garden adjacent to Orchard’s annex (across the bridleway at the side of the cottage) is available Monday to Friday. Previously part of the Longmire orchard it provides a secluded and peaceful spot from which to enjoy The Troutbeck Fells, and includes a slate patio with garden furniture and a traditional stone and slate outbuilding for storage of bikes.
