Pilar De La Horadada is a pretty village and for anyone who enjoys walking there is a walk along the riverbed of the Rio Seco (Dry River) which is about 9 kilometres from the town centre. The local economy is based on tourism and the farming of broccoli, celery and lettuces. You will see beautiful chrysanthemums, gladioli and roses being grown. The town has a great parade of shops and some first class restaurants. Pilar has a reputation for putting on some of the best fiesta in the area, something the Pilar people are very proud of. The nearest beach is at Mil Palmeras (1,000 palms) – fantastically soft sand and crystal clear water. There are excellent facilities on the beach including wheelchair friendly access down to the water.
