Pineda
de Mar is a popular holiday destination and has a decent selection of
facilities and some interesting places to visit. The old town has
several historical buildings dating from the seventeenth to nineteenth
centuries and on the Pineda River visitors can still see four
remaining arches of an ancient Roman aqueduct, showing evidence of
Pineda's historic past. Pineda de Mar was originally settled by the
Iberians (ancient Spanish peoples) over 2,000 years ago. Nature lovers
will want to visit the nearby Montnegre Natural Park an area of
natural beauty with its diverse landscapes. Pineda de Mar is located
on the N-11 and can be accessed from the C-32 motorway, it can also be
reached by rail from Girona.
