Playa de Las Americas is one of the most popular tourist areas in Tenerife. Located at the island’s south-western extreme, it offers fabulous sandy beaches and a modern holiday infrastructure. Playa de Las Americas Tourist Information

Playa de Las Americas offers some excellent beaches. Las Vistas beach is one of the largest beaches in Tenerife. You'll always find a bathing spot here and the bay like cove makes the water calm and extremely safe for swimming. There is a fountain and diving platform in the sea for you to make use of.  The next beach is La Troya beach, also known as Veronica’s beach due to its location next to the Veronicas strip. It’s the second largest beach in Las Americas and hosts some more relaxing water sports such as Pedalo's. Next is Puerto Colon beach and marina. This is located next to the Las Americas marina where all the normal boat trips depart from. This beach is pretty small but has the attraction of anchored inflatables in the sea for the young and old to play on. Finally we reach Fanabe beach. This is located in the more upmarket area of Las Americas and outsize’s its neighbour by a long way. Playa de Las Americas beachfront apartments boast some of the most stunning sea views in Tenerife. 

The town has a great amount of shops and visitors can indulge in duty-free delights in the numerous clothing shops electrical stores. The supermarkets offers most of the well-known brands, many imported to cater for the British tourists. For the best choice go to the commercial centre in the San Eugene Centre, the other side of the motorway. A trip to Santa Cruz (one hour by bus) is worthwhile for those looking for designer clothes. There are some excellent restaurants and bars in Las Americas serving a variety of international dishes including Indian, Chinese, some great pasta restaurants and, of course, excellent tapas and local Canary Islands cuisine.

The town of Las Americas has its own harbour, offering many excursions, from dolphin and whale watching to day trip to the island of La Gomera as well as scuba diving, fishing, sailing, jet skiing and paragliding.

The golf course in Playa de Las Americas is an 18-hole, par 62 course known as "Golf Las Americas".  Facilities include a Club house and Golf shop as well as practice greens, driving range, coffee bar, pro-shop, bag and club custody services as well as caddie cart hire and a golf school. It is advisable to make an early reservation as the course books up very quickly. Many golf holiday rentals are situated at nearby Costa Adeje a purpose built golf resort.

Las Americas is close to a number of excellent attractions including the Octopus Aquapark, offering slides, diving, dolphin shows and climbing walls, two exotic animal parks (Ecological Park and Cactus and Animal Park) and the opportunity to ride a camel at the Camel Park, many golf courses, tennis courts, carting tracks and hang gliding facilities as well as hiking trail to Mount Teide. The quieter resort of Los Cristianos is close by for those looking for a change of scenery.
