Portimao is a mix of old
historic features and modern tourist resorts, which blend to form an
exciting and extremely popular holiday resot on the Algarve. Portimao
has an old town area around Largo da Barca and its main trades are boat
building and the canning of tuna and sardines. Praia da Rocha is the
town's famous beach and is classed as the best beach in the Algarve by
many tourists. The Portimao coastline offers a wide choice of beautiful
beaches, many with stunning rock formations. A new marina has
recently opened and offers a choice of bars and restaurants. On arrival
to Portimao you cross the river which offers a host of different boat
tours and deep sea-fishing trips. The boat tours will also take you out
to the caves along the coast, dolphin spotting at Ponta da Piedade, or
on a scenic trip from Portimao upriver to Silves. We have a number of properties
situated overlooking Praia do Vau and Praia Da Rocha beaches.
