Praia das Maçãs is is a small, and surprisingly calm, seaside resort about 30km to the west of Sintra.  An ideal family beach resort, it has fine sand and lively bars and restaurants to suit all budgets. A must for visitors is to take the tram and ride downhill 13km all the way to the beach of "Praia das Maçãs". The ride takes 45min. and is delightful. This seaside resort has a long, sandy beach set in a cove. It is just a few minutes from Praia Grande and adjoins Azenhas do Mar.  Sintra and Colares are within easy access.
