Northern Island

North Island is one of the inner granitic islands of the Seychelles archipelago,  is located approximately 32 km northwest of the main island, Mahé and five km north of its nearest neighbour Silhouette. The island is about 2.5 km long by 1 km wide. There are three main beaches on the island and  at any time one of these beaches will be sheltered from the prevailing winds. Between the three granitic outcrops that dominate the island lie three areas of flat coastal plains or plateau.

Cousin Island

Cousin island, about 2km (1mile) off the south-west coast of Praslin - has been a nature reserve since 1968, and is home to several endangered species, as well as being a breeding ground for seabirds and turtles. Visits are restricted to 20 people at any one time, and these people are shown around the island by a guide. Day-trips to the islands are organised from Mahe, but more often from Praslin. The islands are open for day-trips the whole year round.

Bird Island

Bird Island, perched on the edge of the Seychelles continental shelf is the most northerly island of the Seychelles Archipelago and is situated 60 miles from the main island of Mahé. The east and south sides are surrounded by a protective barrier reef which is home to many varieties of colourful tropical fish and the rest is an open beach which offers superb safe swimming. Bird Island offers a magical holiday experience. Endless stretches of fine white coral sand beaches give a true 'castaway' feeling.

Curieuse Island

Curieuse Island lies about one mile to the north-east of Praslin, about two miles long was first given the name Ile Rouge on account of its red earth.  As part of the Marine Park the island is strictly protected and only a few families live there. Curieuse is home to the Coco-de-mer palm.  The island has a wild population of about 250 Giant Tortoises, brought over from Aldabra in the 1980s and a breeding scheme has been in place there for several years.  Curieuse was once a leper colony, and the ruins of the houses can still be seen.
