Things to do in Tenerife

Tenerife is a haven of activity. The island has 3 demanding golf courses for the keen golfers. There are also extensive watersports, including waterskiing, windsurfing and sailing. The deep sea fishing here is also fantastic, regular catches of barracuda, tuna, sailfish and various types of sharks.

The scuba diving on the island is also superb, you can swim with turtles, dolphins, rays and a wide selection of tropical fish.

Try to catch the carnival in Tenerife. It is said to be the best outside of Rio de Janeiro, and is filled with stalls, parades and music.

Resorts in Tenerife

Playa de las America is the most popular and busiest of the resorts in Tenerife and has to offer three natural beaches, three man-made, dark volcanic sand beaches, tennis, amusement arcades, bowling, go-carting, jet skiing, banana boating, horse and camel riding, golf and whale watching. Los Cristianos is attached to Playa de las Americas, but is a much quieter part of the resort. Both are within a walk of each other, making this a superb destination for all holidays.

There are also specialty resorts here. Golf del Sur is one of the most popular for both golf and beach holidays. There are a number of golf courses, good bars and great shopping. El Medano is situated by the superb beach of El Cabezo, and has conditions perfect for windsurfing, mountain biking and surfing.

The most luxurious resort in the region is the Costa Adeje. Here you can find fantastic villas, golf courses, marinas and wonderful scenery. If you are looking for a quieter area, then Callao Salvaje is set away from the beaches, making it a much quieter choice, but still has access to all the area's facilities.

Puerto de la Cruz in the north of Tenerife is a much quieter part of the island, with the most stunning views of El Teide volcano. The beaches are not as plentiful as in the south, but it make up for it in its colour and stunning views of the Atlantic from the countryside. Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the capital of Tenerife and is the most populated area on the island. The beaches are good here and there is some great holiday rentals on offer.

The Average temperatures are 21˚C in the coldest months (January and February) and 31˚C in the summer.

Flights to Tenerife

Tenerife has two international airports receiving flights. Los Rodeos (TFN) in the north and the new Reina Sofia Airport (TSF) in the south.
