Engares is a traditional agricultural village, not very "touched" by tourism. It is situated about 5 Km north of Naxos Town in a very green and fertile valley. In the village are few taverns and there is a mini market. In the separation of the very green valley, there are four new maisonette villas, each with its own private swimming pool. They were build in 2002 and have been designed to be ideal for enjoying holidays in "peace and quiet". Each villa is surrounded by a spacious veranda and has its own, private swimming pool (about 30 square metres) with hydro massage and parking place for car. The maisonettes offer a space of about 70 - 80 square metres. On the ground floor is the living-room with a fire-place, dinner lounge, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. In the upper floor is another bedroom and a bathroom. In house facilities include air-conditioning, satellite TV, ISDN internet access, hair dryer. Services include daily cleaning and towels change, bed linen change every 3 days. The villas are situated at a very quiet location, in the fertile valley between the village of Engares and the bay of Amitis. The long sand beach of many hundred meters is very natural and still without any infrastructure, thus there is no possibility to rent chairs and umbrellas. The distance to the village is about 300 metres, and to the beach is about 800 metres (walking path through the valley). In the village there are a few taverns and there is also is a mini market for all your needs. On the south - west part of Naxos lays one of the most beautiful beaches of the Aegean Sea, Mikri Vigla. The cape of Mikri Vigla constitutes a rare geological phenomenon due to the unique cedar-tree forest, one of the few world- wide but also because of its archeological wealth. On both sides of Mikri Vigla’s cape lay two incomparable beaches that each of them transpires different charms, enabling them to content the desires of guests of any kind. On the north side you will find the the bay with the isle of Parthena surfacing in the middle giving a savor beauty to the landscape. The North beach is suitable not only for swimming but for sports too, as it is world wide known for the Meltemi wind that appeal windsurfers, kitesurfers and sportsmen of any kind since many years. The north beach of Mikri Vigla borders with Orkos beach from one side and with the Sahara beach on the other side. The Sahara beach as it is called, is one of the most attractive beaches in Cyclades for swimming. It is also responsible for the lake in Mikri Vigla placed only a few meters from the seashore. The lake of Sahara was used to produce salt, one of the main export goods of Naxos.
